Why Studying Public Administration as a career?

It is often said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step, meanwhile this becomes more complex as one does not know which step he’s going to take to make him successful. Therefore, It takes some level of courage to choose a course of study in the cause of pursuing one’s career.
Then, the question of what career opportunity (to serve as the end line of studying Public Administration) has been ruminating in the mind of some students who eventually find themselves as a student of Public Administration due to varieties of reasons which might be unexplainable to them.
Even for those that considered choosing the course intentionally, it’s very certain that some are still yet to know the meaning of Public Administration. Apart from understanding the various administrative theories you are being thought, have you thought about the nooks and crannies of the course?
Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes administration as the act or process of administering something. The word public can be defined as being able to be seen or known by everyone; open to a general view, happening without concealment. Specifically, anything that has to do with the government of a state, of which the masses have access to could be referred to as public.
Having chosen the course as a student, you should know what is to become of you. Being a Public Administrator, you would equally be trained on how to be a voice for the community. You’re expected to be a public speaker, you are meant to be a catalyst, a political thinker, and a leader for the masses. As a public Administrator (in study) bear it in mind that there is no where you can’t work. Even in the private sector.
Primarily, the purpose of this course is to work in a government agency, parastatals, and so on. And you need to be prepared to impact, finding yourself in a place where people are gathered for a specific purpose, knowing that administration is to take place.
I chose Public Administration as a course to become a political thinker, although, the course is like a baby to political science. The course will shape your understanding of how to become a vibrant leader. Like Dr Mrs. R.A. Akinseye will always assert, all administrators are leaders but not all leaders are administrators.
Simply that with your experience, you can give advice to the government or be in such a position to rule the people. Administrators are not mediocre but the voice of a nation. With the experience and contributions of an administrator, his/her community is prone to be developed.
Administrators have meaningful impact in their area of involvement, shaping policies that influence the community. Administrators are often the face of the public in government or an agency. That is, we implement and Coordinate the activities of the government.
Administrators are basically in charge of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting, and budgeting in an organizational setting. Communicating policies in civic organizations and their communities. And also, they manage competing party priorities to advance decision-making.
In essence, administrators carry out/are involved in managerial processes. As earlier said, a public administration degree can also prepare you for a private-sector career. Lobbyists, educational groups, public relations agencies, not limited to the idea of having a background knowledge on how public policies are created and implemented. As you gain work experience, you may even have advancement opportunities in the public or private sector.
At the end of the course, we can only boost about administrative capabilities just because we’re scientifically and theoretically grounded. Irrespective of the complexity of human in an organization, administrators know the best way to handle them in achieving effectiveness. Nigeria remains the way it is because we are being ruled by leaders who are not administrators.
