PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT SCREENS ASPIRANTS, 16 QUALIFY FOR ELECTION

Preparations for the forthcoming departmental election gathered momentum on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, as the Department of Public Administration, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, successfully conducted its screening exercise for electoral aspirants.



Organised to verify the credentials of aspirants, assess their suitability for the offices they seek to occupy, and ensure compliance with electoral requirements, the exercise commenced at exactly 11:00 a.m. with registration and document verification. Registration was coordinated by the Stakeholders' General Secretary, Comrade Egbekunle Oluwasogo Samuel, before members of the screening committee began the screening and oral interview sessions.

Aspirants were required to present approved documents, including their ND Notification of Result, JAMB Admission Letter (ND), School Admission Letter (ND/HND), WAEC/NECO Result, Acceptance Fee Receipt, School Fees Receipt, Course Form, Departmental Receipt, Faculty Receipt, Students' Union Government (SUG) Receipt, Indigene Certificate, Statement of Last Semester Result, and Examination Malpractice Clearance. They were also directed to purchase a project file, attach a recent passport photograph, arrange all documents in the prescribed order, obtain their Examination Malpractice Clearance Card from the General Secretary, and collect their last semester result slip from the Protocol Officer before appearing before the screening panel.

Members of the screening committee, comprising the Electoral Chairman, Comrade Adeyemi Aderemi; Stakeholders' Chairman, Comrade Olubode Ademileke; Stakeholders' General Secretary, Comrade Egbekunle Oluwasogo Samuel; Speaker,Hon.Yusuf mustapha O. Deputy Speaker, Hon. Nureni Nurudeen Oluwaferanmi; alongside other stakeholders and departmental executives, carefully examined each aspirant through document verification and oral interviews.

The exercise was witnessed by the Departmental President, Comrade Aluko Adedeji David; Departmental General Secretary, Comrade Adedokun Azeez Oluwadamilare; Departmental Financial Secretary, Comrade Eze Henrietta Ugochi; Departmental Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ajewole Oluwajuwon; Departmental Assistant Sport Director, Comrade Adedapo Toheeb Opeyemi; Departmental Welfare Officer, Comrade Arekemase Barakat D.; Departmental Social Director II, Comrade Sulaimon Mubarak Alabi; Departmental Stakeholder Protocol I, Comrade Owoseni Damilola Jeremiah; Departmental Stakeholder Chairperson, Senator Comrade Chukminonye Henrietta; AHOWCIS President, Comrade Daramola Olamide; and Comrade Israel Olabosinde, Editor-in-Chief, among other observers.

At the conclusion of the exercise, sixteen aspirants were cleared to proceed to the next stage of the electoral process, while two aspirants were disqualified for failing to appear before the screening committee.




Qualified aspirants are Olanrewaju Abdulsamod (President – 76); Shodipo Olamilekan (President – 58); Fashakin Gbemisola (General Secretary – 62); Bolaji Yemisi (Treasurer – 80); Daramola Aderinsola (Financial Secretary – 64); Olukoya Damilola Ruth (Welfare Director – 52); Adewale Abass (Social Director – 56); Akinwunmi Ayomide Amos (Social Director – 64); Salaudeen-Oladepo Khadijah (Social Director – 52); Idowu Gideon Oluwatimileyin (Sport Director – 52); Owodeyi Mariam (Assistant Social Director – 52); Okunola Noah Oluwasola (Assistant Financial Secretary – 44); Akinwale Tomiwa Elder (Assistant Sport Director – 58); Momoh Johnson (Assistant Sport Director – 56); Akinbohun Temiloluwa (Public Relations Officer – 52); and Abdulrahmon Suliyat (Assistant General Secretary – 58).

Disqualified aspirants were Adeleye Bisola Olayemi, who aspired for the office of Welfare Director, and Odewenwa Peter, an aspirant for Assistant Public Relations Officer, both of whom were absent during the screening exercise.

Successful completion of the screening exercise marks another milestone in the department's electoral process, with qualified aspirants now set to advance to the next stage ahead of the departmental election.
