NAPADS Football: ND 2 Knocks Out HND 1 in HOD'S Cup Competition, as HND 2 Managed to Qualify with Penalty Shoot out Against ND 1B

The commencement of HOD'S cup in the prestigious department of Public Administration; The Polytechnic, Ibadan was an interesting and of a serious sporting contest The competition organized  by the National Association of Public Administration Students(NAPADS), The Polytechnic, Ibadan witnessed the presence of dignitaries (Amiable HOD, Dr. Mrs R. A. Akinseye, President of the Association; Comrade Adeyemo Emmanuel, Sport Director Comrade Oladele Jimoh, General Secretary; Com Alao Hezekiah, SUG Auditor; Com Oyeniyi Soretire, FBCS President; Com Opoola Ibrahim, Press Men, friends, guests and students.



The battle between the ND 2 class and HND 1 opened the floor of the tournament. The match started well on a very high tension from the HND 1 students who were frightened to be defeated by their junior colleagues in ND2, probably because of their trainings and the friendly matches they have witnessed with them. The ND2 had their first two goals in the first half as it ended. But HND 1 players never relent, as the fire a goal with a secured penalty shoot. ND 2 players placed the ball twice inside the net and made the match ends in 4 goals to 1 hence they showed them the difference between boys and men.




However, the second match was between HND 2 and ND 1B. The match feature the presence of the Head of the department, Dr (Mrs) R.A. Akinseye. The match set on foot well and very interesting, ND1B played fabulously against HND2 but the players were not smart enough to secure their defense line as tried to make use of all their chances to score while HND 2 played with tactics, experience and synergy which gave them earlier goal and ND1 struggle to bring loss time goal, the match was draw (1-1) in half time. the second half of the match, ND1A scored another goal to lead with 2 goals to 1 and with lot of struggle and great effort of HND 2 players, they successfully equalised with a direct free kick. Then, penalty kicks was placed to justify the winner, since it is a knock out tournament. HND 2 won 5-4 against ND1A from the kicks. 




The matches went well and there was no complaint from any of the team,the referee who is also a sport director from another department showed a great sense of fair play. The NAPADS sport director, Comrade Oladele Jimoh shows how grateful and joyful he was, while speaking with the press correspondents. " ND 1B happened to be the best loser from the two matches, they secure a chance to meet with ND 1A as the semi final begins on Thursday, 6th May at Main pitch, North campus by 2:30pm. Also, ND 2 will be facing HND 2 at the semi-final stage " Comr Oladele declares.
 " The players should show a great deal of discipline and fair play,as the games should be played in the spirit of sportsmanship ". He concluded.
