The head of the department, public administration department, the
polytechnic, Ibadan (Dr R.A. Akinseye) on Wednesday advised students not to be
too religious in achieving academic distinctions adding that academic
distinction does not only come with being too religious but doing the needful
and avoiding unnecessary distractions which will pave the way. She stated this during the 2020/
2021 orientation program for students of the department at PAD hall on
Wednesday.

The orientation program had in attendance the commissioner for information culture and tourism, Dr
Wasiu Olatunbosun, Dr.T.O. Adeyeye, Dr O.O.Oyewo, Mr Iyanda, Mrs Adeyinde
Adedokun from the local government among others. "You need to bring changes into
the system make difference and perform your civic responsibilities, through
these, you can hold your leaders accountable and make yourself relevant in the
society at large" according to Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun. He, the commissioner for information culture and tourism while discussing the topic of civic
responsibility of a citizen in this democratic dispensation in Oyo state. Adding
that the roles of students in building society cannot be overlooked. He further,
urge the students to study hard, strive and make difference from day one of
their studies, to attain success in life.

Dr O.O.Oyewo, a senior lecturer in the
department appreciated the presence of the honourable commissioner and other
guests for counting the public administration department worthy. He later
advised students to crave quality and qualitative education adding that quality
education always comes with a prize.

NAPADS president, Comrade Bamigbade who
gave God the glory for witnessing this year orientation program because last
year could not hold, while he was advising the students said, the new students
are the principal author of this current and next chapter adding that they need
to take responsibility for their learning, make use of their time, and embrace
difference at NAPADS.

In the same vein, a member of the Oyo state youth
parliament, Hon. Faozy Gazaly who is an alumnus of the department of public
administration discussed being impactful as a student using the illustration of
the school motto "ise loogun ise", in his words, he said it is unto students to
let the school pass through them as they are passing through school now. He
further added that students should imbibe the culture of attending classes,
listening to lecturers and attempting assignments.

The head of the Centre for
Information and Data Management, the polytechnic Ibadan (CIDM) Mr Kehinde
Moradeyo lectured students about the consequences of late registration. In his
words, he said students should make sure their registration is done on time for
record purposes. Students should do their registration themselves to confirm the
selection of the offered courses before the printing of their course form he
added.

The vote of thanks was done by Mrs Olaniru and the program was called to
an end by the head of the department Dr R. A Akinseye.
