INTERVIEW WITH NAPADS NEW SECRETARY, COMRADE OLAYIIWOLA AZEEZ BAMIDELE

Press: Can we meet you sir?

Gen. Sec: My name is Comrade Olayiwola Azeez Bamidele, the newly selected General Secretary of this [Public Administration] department.

Press: What do you have to say about the transition of this new administration?

Gen. Sec: The transition is very okay. I am very glad I am among the selected Executive, and I am ready to work diligently and work with the President in all situations in order to achieve our goals and objectives.

Press: The Secretary is the life wire of any organization, so what do you intend to contribute to this administration?

Gen. Sec: According to the functions and duties of a General Secretary, to keep the vital document of the association, and in the General Secretary office letterhead is very important, it is not a material that can be misplaced or misuse, so I will make sure to use my signature, letterhead and letters to defend the administration.

Press: What do you seek to achieve in this administration?

Gen. Sec: Well, as the General Secretary, I don’t really have agenda like the President but I will make sure that the all the President’s agenda is being manifested and archived.

Press: We can see that with the way things turned out from the selection process to the announcement of result, it wasn’t what majority of the students were expecting, so what do we make of it that the new executives would support the selected President?

Gen. Sec: According to the situation on ground, the new executives don’t have any [other] option than to support the President since we were all selected and not elected, so we don’t have any [other] option than to support [her]. We are all one, the President and other executive members inclusive, so we don’t have any reason in jeopardizing our ambition or any other thing. We need to work with her.

Press: Lastly sir, do you think the process that brought you in should be use for the next administration?

Gen. Sec: No, I don’t want it to be that way.  It is not a good process. I prefer election to selection. Election enables you to know the best candidate and someone that is capable and have the capability for that position, but selection is very wrong. In my own [opinion], I prefer election to selection.

Press: Thank you for your time sir.
