FIRST OF IT KIND: PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT ORGANIZES PROJECT WRITING SEMINAR FOR FINAL YEAR STUDENTS

In a groundbreaking move, the Public Administration department, led by Dr. O.O. Oyewo, organized a pioneering one-day project writing seminar for final year students at The Polytechnic Ibadan. The session, held at Sewage Hall, saw the active participation of National Diploma (ND2), Higher National Diploma (HND 2), and Part-time (ND 3 and HND 3) students.


Mr. Y.B. Wahab anchored the seminar and he stated that it as a historic first for the department. The opening procession was led by him as he enjoins the students to read the National Anthem to kickstart the event. 


Dr. O.O. Oyewo set the tone with his opening remarks, emphasizing the seminar's goal to guide students in their academic journey and differentiate serious students from those awaiting university admissions. Highlighting the importance of genuine learning, Dr. Oyewo condemned the commercialization of project writing. 


Dr. T.O. Adeyeye, a research facilitator, delved into the intricacies of project writing, focusing on crucial steps such as topic selection, hypothesis formation, and the significance of a comprehensive literature review.

Addressing the practical side, Mrs. O.S. Olaniru provided insights on filing project topics and recommended students to start fresh files with project guides and tags. 

Mrs. Oke Olayinka, a research facilitator at the National Diploma level, shed light on building a literature review in Chapter Two, emphasizing the importance of building upon existing research. 


Dr. Mrs. Risikat Akinseye, a senior lecturer, urged students to view supervisors as allies in their personal development. She further urged students to endeavor to seek knowledge and use accurate data while writing project.

Mr. A. A. Ganiyu explained the significance of data analysis in Chapter Four, describing it as a statistical method crucial in study planning, design, and data collection.

The students left the seminar feeling empowered and confident about their upcoming project research work. A Question and Answer session provided clarity, fostering independence in their writing journey and achieving the seminar's intended purpose.
