PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT HOLD FIRST-EVER SEMINAR FOR ND STUDENTS

The department of Public Administration, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, made history on Monday, January 22nd, 2024, by holding the first-ever seminar at the National Diploma (ND) level. The seminar, which was part of the course requirement for the course "Seminar in Public Administration", was held at Sewage Hall 1 and featured presentations by 18 groups of students on various topics related to public administration.

The seminar was anchored by Mr. Yusuf Wahab, a lecturer of the department, welcomed the participants and introduced the dignitaries present. The programme started with an opening prayer by Mrs. Adebayo Adeyinka, another lecturer of the department, followed by the recitation of the National Anthem and the Oyo State anthem by everyone present.

The Head of Department, Dr. O.O. Oyewo, in his opening remarks, stated the importance of having such a seminar at the ND level, saying that it would expose the students to the practical aspects of public administration and prepare them for the challenges of the field. He also implored all the participants to make the best out of the seminar and learn from the presentations and discussions.

After the HOD's remark, the course lecturer, Mrs. Olayinka Òkè, in her own speech, also took time to admonish the students to see the session as a great privilege and make the most of it. She said that the seminar was designed to test the students' research, writing, and presentation skills, as well as their knowledge of public administration. She then called out the groups in no particular order to present their papers for discourse.

The session had a total of 18 groups, each presenting on a different topic related to public administration. Each presentations were followed by questions and comments from the Lecturers who served as the panel of assessors.

After the presentation by all 18 groups, the results were announced to all the participants. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Olayinka Òkè, who appreciated the efforts of the lecturers and the students for making the seminar a success.

The seminar was the first of its kind at the ND level in the history of the Public Administration Department and The Polytechnic, Ibadan. It was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. O.O. Oyewo, Dr. R.A. Akinseye, Barr. O.J. Diekola, Mrs. O.S. Olaniru, Mrs. Olayinka Òkè, Mrs. Adeyinka Adebayo, members of NAPADS Press, and representatives of NAPADS Executive led by the President, Comrade Mufutau Ridwan Akinkunmi.

PROJECT SUPERVISION ALLOCATION FOR HND 2 STUDENTS

By:NAPADS Press The Head of Department, Dr. O.O. Oyewo, addressed the HND 2 students on project supervision on November 26, 2024 at PAD hall . He assured the students that the list of allocated supervisors would be made available before the end of the week. Dr. Oyewo emphasized the importance of individual effort in project completion, stating that it is an opportunity for students to develop their critical thinking skills and build their confidence. He also announced that a project seminar would be organized to orient students on the basic rules and procedures for successful project writing and defense. The Head of Department strictly advised students with pending issues to resolve them promptly to avoid delays in project allocation. He warned that late completion of projects would result in an additional year of project writing.
