NAPADS HOSTS SUCCESSFUL ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR FRESH STUDENTS

The National Association of Public Administration Students (NAPADS)  organized a comprehensive orientation program for fresh students of the 2024/2025 academic session at The Polytechnic, Ibadan. The event, which took place today, January 16, 2024, at Sewage Hall 1, was designed to equip newly admitted students with essential knowledge, skills, and guidance necessary to excel in their academic pursuits.

The program commenced with an opening prayer by Barrister Adeyinka Adebayo, followed by the National Anthem. The head of the department, Dr. O.O. Oyewo, delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the importance of focusing on primary assignments to achieve academic excellence. He urged students to identify their career objectives, set realistic goals, and work tirelessly towards attaining them.

Dr. Oyewo also highlighted the department's reputation for producing exceptional administrators, emphasizing the need for students to uphold this standard. He encouraged students to be diligent, disciplined, and committed to their studies, assuring them that these qualities would serve as a solid foundation for their future success.

Other notable speakers included Mr. Morakinyo Kehinde, who provided valuable insights into student registration, result computation, and the consequences of delayed registration. Dr. Kehinde Faniyi, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies, praised the Public Administration department as one of the best in the institution, renowned for producing well-rounded administrators.

The guest speaker, Barrister Azeez Lukman, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on visionary leadership, highlighting the importance of direction, alignment, commitment, and capacity building. He emphasized that visionary leaders must possess a clear understanding of their goals, values, and priorities, and be able to inspire and motivate others to work towards achieving them.

Mrs. Fawibe Victoria, representing the Chief Security Officer, advised students to abide by the school rules and regulations, warning them against joining cult groups. She emphasized that such involvement could jeopardize their studentship and future prospects.

The SUG president, Comrade Oladipupo Daniel, urged students to focus on their primary assignments, emphasizing that academic excellence should be their top priority. He encouraged students to participate in extracurricular activities, but only after fulfilling their academic obligations.

The NAPADS president, Adekanbi Adeyinka Oluwapelumi, encouraged students to prioritize their goals, strive for excellence, and seek value rather than success. He emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and resilience, urging students to remain focused and committed to their academic pursuits.

The orientation program also featured prominent lecturers, including Dr. Akinola, Mr. Ganiyu, Mr Y.B Wahab,Mrs Olaoye and Mrs. Oke Olayinka, who delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a colorful and receptive atmosphere, side attractions, and a remarkable performance by  DJ Richie and hyper man Happy.
