PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT HOSTS SUCCESSFUL WORKSHOP PROGRAM

Public Administration Department of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, successfully hosted a workshop presentation for HND 2 students on Monday, February 17, 2025. The event, held at PAD Hall 1, commenced at 11:08 am with the recitation of the National Anthem, followed by the Oyo State Anthem. Mr. Wahab, a lecturer in the department, anchored the program, which featured the introduction of distinguished guests and lecturers, including the Head of the Department, Dr. O.O. Oyewo, Mr. Adeseun Ogundoyin, Head of the Department of Public Administration, Eruwa Campus, and Mr. Lateef Aremu from the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos.

In his remarks, Dr. O.O Oyewo urged students to abide by the set guidelines, emphasizing that the presentation exercise was not a means to punish the student but an opportunity to build potential outside the walls of the school. He encouraged students to do their best, build their confidence, and face their fears head-on. Mr. Lateef Aremu addressed the students, highlighting the importance of language skills in public administration. "A public administration student must be a master of language," he emphasized.


The presentation session featured 21 groups, each presenting their research titles. Some of the topics included Women and grassroots development in Ido Local Government, Local Government and Primary Healthcare in Nigeria, E-Governance and Lives and Properties in Oyo State, and Financial Autonomy and Performance of Local Government in Nigeria. At the end of the presentation, Mr. Adeseun Ogundoyin advised students to strive for excellence,through that they are motivating their lecturers.




Dr. Bukola Akinola emphasized the importance of developing language skills and public speaking, while Dr. Risikat Akinseye congratulated the students, encouraging them to use simple vocabulary and avoid ambiguous language. The program concluded with the announcement of the results, where Group 20 emerged as the winner with 46 points. The event ended with the recitation of the National Anthem, the Oyo State Anthem, and The Polytechnic, Ibadan Anthem.

The successful workshop presentation demonstrated the department's commitment to fostering academic excellence and preparing students for future challenges in public administration. Other dignitaries in attendance included Dr. Bukola Akinola, Dr. Risikat Akinseye, and Mrs. Oke Olayinka.
