SMOOTH TRANSITION OF LEADERSHIP AS NAPADS HOSTS HANDING-OVER CEREMONY

Department of Public Administration, The Polytechnic, Ibadan On October 3, 2025, organize a handing over ceremony for the Newly elected executives. 

The handing-over ceremony, which was held at a 250-capacity hall, middle belt campus, commenced at exactly 12:15 pm, following an opening prayer by Engr lekan followed by the recitation of the National Anthem, the Oyo State Anthem, and the school anthem.

Mc faith, who anchored the program, introduced the distinguished guests and dignitaries at the high table. Among them were the Head of Department, Dr. Kunle Oyewo, Mr Y.B. Wahab, Mrs. O. A Oke, and Mrs. Damilola Olaniyi.

The outgoing president of the prestigious department, Comr. Adekanbi Oluwapelumi Adeyinka in his address he expressed deep gratitude to God, lecturers, especially the head of department, Dr O.O Oyewo, and his executive members, student leaders on campus, for making his administration a successful one.

He emphasized that their support was crucial to the success of his administration. He further encourages the incoming executives to carry their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and humility, adding that these attributes are tantamount to attaining an effective administration.

Following the speech was a poetry rendition session performed by the outgoing senior editor of Napads editorial board, Comr Sulaimon Taiwo kamaldeen, titled 

You Stood, So We Could Rise,” 

The poetry rendition centers on students' appreciation of their lecturers for their impactful knowledge, discipline, and sacrifices that shaped the students' growth.

In his lines, 

"Whether we whisper you in prayers or lay you a curse,

Whether we mock you in jest or praise you behind 

The reflection of your impact has been etched in our lives.

It only awaits the dawn for the future to tell."

Showing how the lecturer’s tough love, late night efforts, and constant guidance turned uncertain students into confident graduates.

The head of department, Dr O.O Oyewo, in his address, lauded the outgoing executives for their tremendous efforts and commitment during their tenure for maintaining a high level of accountability and transparency, describing their service as a service done with heart, and urged all students to remain focused on their academic pursuits and personal growth.

 He further advised the newly elected executive regarding financial accountability.

 In his words, 

“The finances of Public Administration are meant for Public Administration, not for personal use. Any executive who attempts to mismanage departmental funds should be rest assured that graduation will not be an option,” he concluded.

To commemorate the day, certificates of service and an award of appreciation were presented to the supportive lecturers and the outgoing executives who played a pivotal role in the success of the administration.

Following was the leadership transition and oath of office session, which was administered by Mrs. Damilola Olaoye, as a formal procedure for extending duties and responsibilities to the newly elected Stakeholders.

 The newly elected President, Comrade Aluko Adedeji David, expressed his gratitude to God, the outgoing executive, and the student body for trusting him with the responsibility to serve. He pledged to lead with transparency, responsibility, and commitment.

The event concluded on a joyful note, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the leadership of the Department of Public Administration.
