               The Academic Staff Union of University [ASUU] initially embarked on this strike on 14th of February, 2022, asking the government to sign the agreement it entered with the union in 2009. As at July 19, 2022 the Minister for Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu, took over the negotiations and also gave assurance that all universities on strike will resume as soon as possible but It was reported that on August 16, 2022, ASUU and the Federal Government re-negotiated their outstanding issues.
